If you’ve ever been annoyed with a double episode being played twice in its entirety in a play queue, this method may be for you.
Normal Plex naming convention for the following episodes would be:
- Seinfeld (1989) - S05E19-E20 - The Raincoats
- Mad Men (2007) - S06E01-E02 - The Doorway
Remove the second “-Exx” to end up with these:
- Seinfeld (1989) - S05E19 - The Raincoats
- Mad Men (2007) - S06E01 - The Doorway
Once the files are added in Plex, edit the metadata for these now “single” episodes to be their double name ie., “The Doorway Parts 1 & 2” or simply “The Doorway.”
Yes there will be a “missing” second episode in Plex for these seasons but everything will play better in a playlist and you can set and forget.
This also saves you having to physically split your original files as suggested here. I find this to be unnecessarily messy. Many episodes were never intended to be seen in separate parts.
