This is a missing feature I suppose, that’s been asked about a few times on these forums that nobody seems to either explain correctly or get a solid reason why it doesn’t or can’t exist. So below I will explain as best I can. Currently I am using Emby to handle all of my TV stuff because they are accomplishing what is being asked, but I’m writing this because I and most people here would rather just use Plex.
Situation:
Numerous shows, specifically in this case cartoons and children’s sitcoms from the 90s, have a single aired “episode” that contain two approximately 15 minutes episodes within it. As the application stands today, no matter how I set up the filename on my server,
Example:
#Filenames#
/Plex/TV/The Power Puff Girls/Season 1/S01E01-E02.mkv
/Plex/TV/The Power Puff Girls/Season 1/S01E03-E04.mkv
Plex will deliver the first (episodes 1&2) as Episode 1 and the second (episode 3&4) as Episode 2.
All that I think is being asked for is that Plex have a way to understand and group the episodes correctly. I have attached a screenshot from Emby showing how they solved this on their UI.
Not sure what you mean here exactly, we’ll split these all up into 4 separate episodes in the UI. Playing episode 1 or episode 2 will play the same episode and mark both 1 & 2 as watched when finished and then skip to episode 3, etc.
I’ve not had this issue and I have a few TV shows that have combined multiple episodes into one file. The stuff my daughter likes such as Paw Patrol and Peppa Pig. It may have to do with the file naming you have. Try the suggestion FordGuy61 makes.
