Just curious, why do you want to lead your users to other services, if you use Plex to host your local content?
He’s the creator, so he wants to point to his work for the free advertising (I only assume).
I can somewhat understand their request, if they are attempting to save bandwidth. But honestly, why even share your local content, if you are worried about bandwidth that much?
