Has anyone had any success in setting up a network wide VPN (through OpenVPN in router and third party VPN which in this case is NordVPN) and still having direct outside access to their Plex.
I know this is more of a router/networking questions than a Plex question–just curious.
I have NordVPN and AsusWRT-Merlin firmware on my router using OpenVPN and I have it running fine with remote access. A good place to start is here. But understand some programs/apps/sites will not allow you to access them so you will have to tunnel under the vpn for some devices.
Example: Hulu will not let you use a vpn to access so any of my Roku players are tunneled under the vpn so they can access Hulu. I also had to tunnel my daughters laptop under the vpn to allow her access to a specific writing site that blocks vpns, but solved that by adding the stand alone NordVPN app to her laptop so she can turn it back on when she’s done with that site.
