Too many variables to bother?

Hello you amazing and beautiful people.

I have a short grocery list of hopes I'd like to share and see if I should or shouldn't pursue.

Currently I'm running my PMS on a lovingly thrown out Windows PC from my office, and so far so good. I have started to lose faith in Windows OS as a main driver, and have proven this theory with a little more than a year's use on a Chromebook.

Chromeboxes are really growing in guts and distribution, and I want so badly to transition, but I worry.

I haven't seen any real solid development literature on a Chrome OS Plex Media Server app; but lots of literature from those who've dual booted/loaded Ubuntu on their Chrome device and thus gotten PMS up and running. I love the PlexConnect interface, and love my Apple TV 3 for everything it offers (plus the value increase PlexConnect gave my Apple TV3). I don't know where to go for insight on:

1) Plex Media Server for a Chromebox on Chrome OS or a Chromebox with Ubuntu sideloaded

2) if PlexConnect will or does work on a Chromebox under Chrome OS or Ubuntu. I know some would suggest to just plug the Chromebox into the TV and use Plex Home Theatre on Ubuntu sideloaded, but I just don't want to walk away from PlexConnect

Help?

Cant answer point 1 But would suggest you raise this in the ask a ninja forum as they are more likely to help than the Plexconnect community.

With regards to Point 2, Plexconnect only relies on Python 2.X so as long as you can install it onto the Chromebox then this would not be a problem.  If you want Fanart you would also have to find an appropriate Pil/Pillow install for the chromebox as well.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will throw that in the Ask A Ninja thread and see what happens.

And my worry about the install on the Chromebox with respect to Python is I've found no Python apps on Chrome OS, and don't know a thing about Ubuntu, so I just don't know if the installation is possible or not.
