Track Title Missing:
I know this issue has been “fixed” in that I can go into an album, refresh the metadata and the track titles come back. It might be worthwhile having plex’s background scanner query a library and check for missing titles then automatically run a refresh metadata. Prevent while(1) by limiting return results or via the use of a last-touched timestamp. Plex is definitely getting better but this is a huge annoyance and aside from the lack of a composer field is one of the ONLY reasons I haven’t completely abandoned other applications for my primary music libraries. It is also the reason I disabled periodic refresh metadata because I “fear” my manually fixing them will be undone.
YET ANOTHER REQUEST FOR COMPOSER FIELD
LOL, please finally add the composer field, it’s been like 8 years.
If anyone’s interested >>>
That has been my workaround for getting my metadata backwards compatible (albumartist as composer, artist broken into subfields S# for performer E# for ensemble and in the case of compilation albums the close of the tag would be followed by the composer S#[me];E#[nonameband];bach, johann sebastian and the albumartist set to “Various Artists”
yea I use that columnin my images. It’s not the same thing as grouping by albumartist (see first image). i don’t use track view outside of a bulk cleanup operation.
The “Artists” menu item in your first screenshot is Album Artist. There are numerous feature requests asking Plex to add support for Track Artists, so people can see artist pages for those who only appear on Various Artist albums, for example.
You are correct and I withdraw that article. I’m so used to the composer tag that I forgot I intentionally removed reference to the composer in compilation albums (where backwards compatibility was concerned) by placing it at the end of the track artist field. [the composer tag is vital for good metadata in classical music (given you have composer, arranger, transcriber, performer, ensemble, venue, record, year, etc etc) it’s a real rabbit hole.] it does make searching for pieces within a compilation album harder =/
Hopefully that will not overshadow the second request (i realize the third will probably never happen) as it’s a viable solution to missing track titles being fixed automatically. Truth be told it was the only reason I posted as it took me about 2 hours to do (between the manual labor and waiting for the fresh) and my ‘concern’ is that if I ever need to refresh my library or add a large batch of items that this issue will persist.
