I looked through a few other posts of people with the same issue, but, nothing seemed to pertain to my situation, so I thought I'd throw this out there. I had been using a new MacBook Pro to run PlexConnect and Plex Media Server to enjoy the fruits of the Trailers App. My wife went and took off for a week and left me an older Macbook Pro, which I'm trying to run PlexConnect and Plex Media Server from. I downloaded the software, even copied over all my channels to the Library --> Applications Support area (which was hard to find because the opton key didn't seem to work). The software seems to be running OK, I put the certs in the right place. Normal Apple TV connects to the internet. Here are the specifics:
Using Mac OS X 10.6.8 on a 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
Plex Media Server Version 0.9.9.5.411-da1d892
When I check to see if it's the latest version of PMS, it says "Update Error! An error occurred in retrieving update information. Please try again later."
I'm wondering if I'm out of date or maybe the software is older? I dunno. I don't want to spend hours on this if something won't work. Thanks.

I installed it, restarted the computer, ran plex connect and realized python was still using 2.6.1 so I ran the "Update Shell Profile" which seems to have fixed that issue. So I opened a new shell, started plex connect, and it now says Python 2.7.6, as you can see below. Do I need to reboot again? I notice that the when I "Check for Updates" in the PMS window, it still gives me an error. Any ideas? Thanks again!

Are you using a modem rather than a router for the MacBook, I say this because you have 50.0.190.56 (a public IP) so appear to have some unusual network setup. What is the contents of your settings.cfg file and can your paint a picture of your setup (PlexConnect device, PMS device, wifi/wired/3G network / ATV IP).
Thanks f00b4r and institue11, I have a crazy setup where my DSL comes into one room only in the back of the house, then I'm using Powerline to route that to the front of the house to a very old UFO airport extreme as my router (the newer time capsule died so it's my backup), but, I don't see how that would be a difference considering the new MacBook Pro runs everything fine. My PlexConnect and Plex Media Server are on the same computer:
Mac OS X 10.6.8 on a 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
Plex Media Server Version 0.9.9.5.411-da1d892
Though I listed that above so maybe you mean something else?
The contents of my settings.cfg (and ATVsettings.cfg)are as follows:
The problem is that your PMS somehow has your public IP rather than a private one dished out by the router, if your ATV shares the same how is PlexConnect meant to differentiate between device so and know where to send data. I am not sure how this is happening, hence why I asked for the information above about your setup. What is the I ATV’s IP address?
It is possible that they have just a bad setup, and are using a public subnet internally (1 have seen people who don’t understand networking play with this type of thing before, because they like the number etc)
Also it seems there are 2 subnets in play 50.0 and 50.1
Thanks all. I have NO IDEA about networking or subnet or any of that stuff. Maybe it's because I have a DSL box which brings in the signal, then it routes through the powerline (hence the name Powerline), then comes to the Airport, so, it's kinda 2 routers. I know that it worked fine on my wife's new computer, but it won't connect with this one. Not sure if I have something set somewhere that says to access her computer and not mine, because I set it up with hers, but I did change from her AppleID to mine, so, I figured it'd be like starting over brand new. I'm open to suggestions, so, thanks again.
