Transcoder support for Live RTMP Streams or Possible Works Arounds?

I was wondering if there were any plans to support transcoding of live RTMP streams for iOS or other mobile devices? Or is there something easily that I can do with a live news channel I have developed? basically I’d like to be able to take the streams that work great on PMC and be able to view them on my iOS Plex Client. I know there are some issues with transcoding live RTMP streams but wondering if there is anything that I can do as a work around on my end to at least get the setup working the way I want, so that I could view these streams while on the go or if there was going to be some inclusion of this capability in a later release of PMS. Thanks for all the hard work guys!

There’s no workaround that I know of at this point. As for plans to support I don’t know about those kinds of things, but I imagine at some point it could make it into PMS. Pretty sure the issue right now is with the way ffmpeg handles the live streams. I read a post (I think somewhere in this forum) about someone who tried live rtmp transcoding with the HEAD version of ffmpeg and got it working so that’s probably a sign that things are going in the right direction!

if it helps anyone, i use dreambox (satellite box) and in this link below there is a modification of the ffmpeg to get it working on another software so it can stream live, it might be useful maybe as it used to work great.

gerk / waghelak thanks for the feedback!

Hi everyone; could somebody tell me if it is possible to replace the ffmpeg used by PMS (0.9.7.12) - if PMS uses ffmpeg to transcode: sorry if the question could sound stupid by I'm new to Plex - with the version posted by waghelak and, in such a case, how?
