Currently, the only available AAC audio transcoding option while playing Plex videos through a PC web browser such as Edge or Chrome is stereo. These browsers are capable of playing a 5.1 and even 7.1 audio stream and sending it to a Windows audio device for surround playback, but this cannot be accomplished within the Plex web player currently. I’ve tried enabling the force multi-channel audio option but as the option points out, this is specifically for Chromecast.
