Transcoding: Better to have powerful CPU only or decent CPU with GPU transcoding?

I need to look into this more. I have the i7-6700 and hardware transcoding caused a lot of buffering for me on client devices. Reverted back to software and I’m fine.
Mostly playing DVRd ts files.

Could it be the format you are trying to transcode?

Well if anyone need help hammering/testing the servers let me know, I can help with some multiple transcode from different environments on different networks… 400/400 on one 400/100 on the other one with multiple players.

I will be trying a different SO on my i7-6700k to see if I can get more out of him without windows (the metrics and system analyze on unRaid is to blame)
