Sorry guys newbie to the board. So I had not did an update in awhile & decided to on Friday. Started experiencing error messages on certain files when transcoding was involved. Here’s the weird thing. Some of my older movies are encoded in ac3 audio which seem to play fine. In the last year or some I started using aac audio on my newer conversions & those files keep getting the error message. I’m assuming it’s a codec issue that apparently wasn’t downloaded during the update? Is there a way to roll back the update? Again my apologies for being a newbie in the boards lol
You’re timing was perfect! Not! LOL
On Friday, Plex had a codec download problem that stretched through part of the weekend.
If the problem is still occurring for your system:
- Stop Plex Media Server
- Using File Station, navigate to the Plex Data Folder
- Delete the Codecs folder
- Start Plex Media Server
Plex Media Server should re-create the Codecs folder and download the codecs as needed.
I’ve a DS918+ running DSM 7.2.2. The above procedure works on my system.
Just tried it. It’s a no go. Hopefully someone has a patch soon. I really don’t have time to convert my newer movies back to ac3. Thanks
PMS still reports Conversion failed. A required codec could not be found or failed to install.
Yeah, lots of reports of not working for others on multiple platforms. Thought Plex had this fixed. Do you still have the installer file for 1.41.3. If so, you might try falling back. Synology does not permit direct fallbacks. You’ll need to uninstall 1.41.4 before installing 1.41.3.
