Why would my film transcode playing on same network, shouldnt it just direct play?.
Depends on the client and how the content was encoded. Not all videos are compatible with all Plex clients.
If you can go to https://app.plex.tv/desktop then go to Settings / Server / Dashboard and post a screenshot of the “Now Playing” section (above the graphs) during playback, it might be possible to identify exactly why it’s transcoding.
