Hi,
it happened many times now that - for some reason - I keep getting the message “The server is not powerful enough…” when I try and stream media from my NAS in my home network.
What I noticed though is that this mostly happens when I am playing mkv files** with subtitles on**.
If I deactivate the subtitles, the stream works back immediately.
Is there something I can do to fix this? Is this a problem that Plex is working on to fix?
I also have a quite good NAS from Synology.
To get a qualified advice, please deliver:
- the exact type of NAS device
- the mediainfo XML of the movie
- the type of Plex client used

right in principle.
But, the web client has learned to render SRT subtitles itself, so the transcoder is not needed for this type of subtitles.
@AlexKalopsia
In Plex Web, go to Settings - Web - Player - ‘Burn Subtitles’ = “Only Image Formats”
Of course this has a little drawback: The subtitle renderer in the web browser is more sensitive to defective and malformed subtitle files. Often, subtitles don’t conform strictly to the SRT format definition.
If you experience trouble with subtitles in the web browser, check their encoding first. It must be UTF-8.
If you have a Windows workstation, get the excellent Subtitle Edit which can repair almost every malformed SRT file.
(often, subtitles sourced from opensubtitles.org are malformed due to automatically inserted marketing blurb from opensubtitles org.)
