My first server was on a old 2010 MacBook Pro, I recently switched to a 2010 Mac Pro Tower. For awhile everything was working great I had no problem transcoding a 1080 movie on my Apple TV now it’s really struggling to play even at 2mb 720. This is even when no other transcodes are taking place. My settings have been at make my cpu hurt but when I took a look at activity manager to see how much the cpu was being used while transcoding it was less then 1% this computer is only used as a Plex server. I can give more on specs but it’s just odd that it could handle higher transcoding at one time but now can’t… I don’t think I’ve changed settings. The only thing that has changed is upgrading the Plex server software. Even when I was using the MacBook Pro it seemed to do better there where I’m at now.
can we get some detailed specs? Are you saying files that transcoded before now basically can’t transcode?
