so I came about that question:
I thin about getting this hardware setup:
Intel Xeon E3-1245 v6 in combination with an Supermicro X11SSL-CF board.
The board has as many HDD connectors I need, and the CPU has an integrated iGPU with all QuickSync features available.
Here is the clue on that question:
can the iGPU used for transcoding even if no monitor is connected?
how is the behavior of the iGPU because there is another “GPU” onBoard - the AST2400 of Supermicro
There is no BIOS option to enable or disable a GPU - just a jumper to disable the AST2400 (and therefore the iKVM feature) but no words about any other GPU.
So is it possible to use the CPUs iGPU to transcode media?
Phew, pain in the ass…
the C236 are lot more expense but okay. thanks for the info

No, The C232 chipset on the motherboard doesn’t support quicksync, you need an MB with a C236 chipset. @trudge
Do you know if there must be a monitor attached to have the iGPU working ? (read something like this in different forums)

Depends on the bios settings on the board and I believe also your OS. Best bet is to pick your setup, then consult google for specifics.
