OK, thanks. FWIW, I am on Intel Driver 31.0.101.2135 3/6/2025 and my bios is up to date. Also, QuickSync appears to transcode video properly on files with no TrueHD audio (barely any CPU is used to transcode).
Thanks.
I’ve forwarded to Chris.
Since the transcoder is his, I’ll let him take over from here.
I’m the systems guy (on the Linux side)
Just pinging this to keep it on (@chrisallen ‘s) radar.
This is in @chris_decker08’s realm. ( Too many ‘Chris’ here )
Ha…Sorry about that! Looking forward to his thoughts. ![]()
Following up on this. I decided to migrate my PMS over to a new computer with an Intel Series 2 Core Ultra 5 225H. I was hoping that a fresh install of Windows and a new processor would fix things, but apparently not. Seeing the same issue. If the audio track is TrueHD and is transcoded, whether the video is transcoded or not, it either buffers every few seconds or fails. @chris_decker08, any progress on this? It seems like a bug in the PMS Windows version.
Just following up on this @chris_decker08. Is there a bug in Windows PMS that basically prevents audio transcoding? If a fresh Windows install on the latest Intel processor doesn’t work on a plain PMS install (no Docker), it makes me think there might be a bug.
Following up on this. After trying to reinstall, new registry settings, new codec folder, and all other setting combinations, I finally gave up and reinstalled PMS fresh with nothing migrated. That seems to have worked. Audio transcoding is now working properly. Based on that, I think there was some setting carried over from my original Synology installation to the Windows installation that was creating problems. As far as I can tell, whatever that was must have been in one of the databases. Perhaps the lesson here is don’t migrate between different operating systems.
