Trying to get nvidia hardware transcoding working

Been getting some complaints from friends and what not that occasionally they will get the message that the server isn’t fast enough to keep up with whatever. After I get 6+ transcodes going it is definitely working the processor hard. I had a gtx1060 laying around so I have thrown that into my CentOS6 box that runs PMS(1.13.4.5251). I’ve run the latest nvidia drivers NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-390.77 and enabled hardware decoding but it doesn’t seem to be working. The first remote person I had test it said it just spun and spun saying buffering and I never saw it actually kick off in the now playing screen. I played a few things here but everything direct streamed even when I tried to force transcoding.

Where do I start troubleshooting this?

nVidia has limitations based on the card model about how many transcodes it will do.
Also be advised, Plex doesn’t support off-cpu hardware transcoding in Linux at this time.
It’s up to you to integrate all the libva and other modules.

The troubleshooting sequence is to start at the X-server base and work your way up.

That’s the answer I needed. I thought it was supported now. I’ll put that 1060 back in my desktop and direct the heavier users to it.
