I have been running a Plex server through my (windows) PC and i’m planning on moving to a rasberry pi 3 b+. I was wondering if there’s anyway to move my existing server to linux safely or do I have to create everything again from scratch (adding friends, editing metadata, etc.)?
Check out the Thread here for instructions, but from what I’ve read trying to move your media metadata from one OS to another (Windows to Linux in this case) is possible but can be a little tricky. Just yesterday I built a new raspberry pi 3 b+ plex server following the guide found here: to replace my existing Windows server. I added the new server to my existing plex.tv account which meant that all of my friends were already there and I just needed to add the new server libraries to their profiles and it was done! My libraries are fairly large, and the rpi is noticeably slower than the PC, so I’m still waiting for the metadata to pull itself down from the interwebs, but it’s been relatively hassle free so far.
