Tv show downloads functionality broken in new Plex

Yes I am fully aligned with your comment. @Craig_Holliday we need more than we have a planned. It is a major step back and I have a real feeling that Plex completely underestimated the impact to come with this phase approach as it impacts Plex Pass users. That was one of the main reasons I purchased the Plex Pass and now I feel completly let down.
Could we have some tentative date for:

  • When the season download will be available
  • When the serie download will be available
  • When automatic download of unseen episode(s) will be available
  • When the download content is at least display by season or even better by serie

Woof. This is basically all I use the app for.

Also, watching downloaded TV series doesn’t seem to be updating my library.

This just gets worse and worse.

So with the new update the functionality to download a series seems to have appeared, however all tv episodes now get transcoded for no reason that i can see. This is not the case with movies, any thoughts?

(Have checked the settings and downloads are set to original quality)

Might as well add my experience to provide additional feedback…

I downloaded then started a show when going on a run earlier. I initiated playback from the Downloads screen. Once out of Wifi range, the show stopped then Plex crashed. I restarted the app then show from Downloads and it played fine until I got back home. Once back in Wifi range, the show immediately jumped back to where it crashed when it initially went out of Wifi range. I stopped it and the app crashed again. After relaunching (Still in Wifi range), I could resume the show from the correct later point it was at prior to reentering wifi.

This is hugely disappointing. I’ve downgraded my Android app back to the old experience for this reason. I haven’t taken the time to try and downgrade my iPad app, but the uncategorized, all or nothing, status agnostic, no sync rollout of this is basically useless for me.

I found it very frustrating and even a bit arrogant that Plex is not able either to reply or communicate when this feature would be fully and properly implemented again. @Craig_Holliday is it the way that Plex want to handle negative comments?

they have said its planned just no eta

Add me to the list of disgruntled LONG time users. This stinks. An Eta would be nice

any news @Craig_Holliday on when we will have the full functionality again or Plex believe that is it? The lack of feedback is getting very annoying now

I’ve followed the instuctions on another post and link to a GitHub on how to download and restore the old version of the app to my iPad. It took about a half hour but wasn’t difficult. I’m going to stick with the old app and follow the progress in the Changelogs to see how the new app is progressing.
