I have TV shows I like to hit shuffle on. If I select a show such as “Bob’s Burgers”, and click shuffle on the screen, I tend to get the same 10-20 episodes that it will show me each night. In some cases, if I exit out of the episode and hit shuffle again, it will play the episode I just exited out of.
Isn’t there a way to make Plex shuffle for TV shows way more random. I googled and found people as frustrated as I am. I tried making a playlist of the show and that has the same result, gives me the same 10-20 episodes when I shuffle.
I don’t think is just the tv shows.
My music keeps repeating the same songs with shuffle.

Came here for this exact reason. The shuffle mechanism is in dire need of a more complex algorithm. I’ll shuffle several times in a row trying to find a decent episode and run in to the same episode four times in ten shuffles in shows with over 150 episodes. I know at true random there is still a 2% chance every time, but it certainly doesn’t feel that way. Even shows with 300+ episodes I repeatedly get the same episode when shuffling.
Same issue on a non-mac server. There should be multiple ways to fix this in the software but would recommend that a play list shuffle list be created when the user creates a playlist for the first time and is re-created if anything changes. Then use the static list any time the person goes in to shuffle. Keep track of last episode played and even position in the episode so that the user can pick up where they left off. By doing this it will create an apparent random list and will prevent the same episodes from coming up over and over again.
BTW, I love PLEX. Love it!!! Agree with the others here that the Shuffle needs a little help. Outside of that I can’t find anything else that needs work. GREAT purchase and GREAT value. Thanks, Howard
