TV Show Specials (Season 0) Show Episode Titles

Hi,

I’ve got a bit of a stupid question. Why does the TVDB agent not redirect to the local media assest naming guide when it cannot find a particular episode? I have a couple of specials that I recently ripped from a DVD that don’t exist in TVDB and for the life of me I cannot get Plex to use the file names as “title” unless I put LMA at the top of the list - which doesn’t make sense to me. I thought it would go down the list until it “gets” metadata and not just “Episode 23”?

I know I can rename them manually but that seems to defeat the purpose!
Is there maybe an agent in an appstore that I can put in that does this type of thing?

Thanks for all your help?

Got slightly different issue here, added Doctor Who, s00e17 and when I refresh metadata at the show level or at the episode level, it stays as Episode 17 instead of showing “The Curse of Fenric Special Edition”, as referenced in TVDB.

My issue is that I’d like it to show the filename for episodes it doesn’t know.
@RJosse in your case I assume you have the local media assest before the other agents?

@RJosse: at the moment there seems to be some issue between TheTVDB (not being available, dropping API requests) and Plex… this should be fixed eventually.
@chaosmaker: would indeed be helpful – at least giving some more logic as in “if TheTVDB feedback = ‘episode not known’ and Local Media Assets is activated and an optional title segment exists after sXXeYY, then use that segment as title”). I suppose it’s slightly more complicated as Plex will then have to keep track of multiple parallel sources etc.

@tom80H doesn’t plex track the titles anyway already, I mean it searches by the titles to find the relevant metadata, all it would have to do is to make that available as the episode title if none of the other agents returned a useful title.

Yes, Local Media Assets are before other agents.

@RJosse make sure that LMA is after the agents otherwise they won’t provide the required info…

Seems to be working now. @tom80H seems to be indeed a temporary issue with TVDB access.
