Maybe you should turn off a bunch of them and go… uh… ‘Stock’.
(in the order presented may also be a good idea)The more they overtake the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain…

It’s because LMA is on top. I’m sure of it, lol
Yes… Yes… I know. But I DO NOT like some of the artwork thetvdb, themoviedb uses. Having LMA ontop insures I get the pictures I want without any manual edits. And the thing is the episode titles do come in eventually
If the OP is hard over against using the Personal Media Shows workaround described above, he or she could:
- Use a bash script to grab the four pieces of information desired from the filename (Show Name, Season Number, Episode Number, and Episode Title).
- Have the bash script call ffmpeg, and using the --metadata tag in ffmpeg pass the four pieces of information to ffmpeg for incorporation into the mp4 file itself
- Copy each file to the appropriate directory
- Configure Plex to use only Local Media Assets as an agent.
I think this would probably load the data from the files directly, and it’s not a superhuman effort to write a script like this. Ramicio, if you look under my user name here, you’ll see a long script that does many other things besides what you want (the post is titled “A working end-to-end script automation for downloads, filing, and metadata”, but includes all the stuff you do want, apart from the metadata tag in ffmpeg (which I don’t use because I have to use another tool to add the artwork, which ffmpeg is unable to do). This will run in the background and take about ten seconds per file. You won’t get a synopsis for each episode, or curated stills for the display, but if you’re determined to avoid using an external database for these data, there isn’t another way to get them. Feel free to adapt my script to your needs.
I think it’s a lot of work to go through to get Plex to display a less elegant and professional result than what it’s capable of, but it’s your media, so you do get to pick how you want it.
For what it’s worth, a similar problem to what you described arose with me trying to properly configure the show Justice League Action - the episode order differs wildly among various sources. There was a certain amount of hand editing that had to be done to make sure the episode displayed was the episode that actually played. But it was just the one show so I didn’t get too cranky about it - after all, I learned a bit about how Plex handles metadata in the process.
I suspect you will find that a big disconnect in episode order is relatively rare and a little hand editing for the occasions it does arise is a minor burden, well worth it when the quality of presentation and organization is considered. But if you don’t agree, you can do the Personal Media Shows workaround or the procedure I suggested.
See they came in.. Took more then a week. But whatever
I know no one cares.
