As far as TVDB is concerned - I’ve got two episodes. It names each one according to it’s list, but when Plex plays them - it’s just one big file with both in it.
If you name yours - S01E01-E59 - you’ll show 59 episodes.
When you play it it’ll be like The Jerry Lewis MS Marathon, but there you go…
… and that’s why you rip each episode off the disc, not the big one…lol
Guess that’s what I get for trusting a Russian source. The only reason I wanted to use these files was that the video portion was a higher resolution. I already spent an hour removing all the Russian audio from each file individually. What a waste lol. The other version I have has crappy video quality…scratch that, already deleted that one. Don’t know anything about ripping, I haven’t ripped a DVD in over a decade and tried to the other day with a semi-rare movie, this damn Mac won’t even rip anything except the trailer. I’ve been out of the loop way too long.
I’m not sure what that means. Man I’m really feeling ignorant today- generally the extent of my tv knowledge is… be a small child, walk into the room, tv is on, start watching something in the middle.
I didn’t know tv shows had chapters, you’re referring to the graphical interface on a DVD where you can pick a spot to play? These files generally start playing at the intro, like most everything I’ve ever seen. I don’t know if someone recorded them from a cable broadcast or what, no idea.
I didn’t know all of this stuff was so in depth really… I just have media files and try to make sure the quality is good. I’ve updated things a few times over the years as better stuff came along, plex being one of those upgrades several years ago. Because having all your movies thrown in one folder was never really great.
Plex will display chapter markers - if the markers exist in the media.
IF chapters do exist you could name them the episode name so you can skip to it in the player - then name the file so that Plex shows all 59 episodes.
I mean… it’s a work-around any way you look at it.
If you were going to spend a few weeks cutting 59 episodes out, your time might be better spent marking 59 chapters and you can do it with the same tool - MKVToolNix.
Just sayin.
You need to learn to use Handbrake/MakeMKV/Other and just get into it a little.
