Hi,
There are two films with the same name, which were released the same year: The Girl (2012). I have both in my collection. When I try to find them, Plex shows me one, and then I can get to the second one in an intrincate way. How can I differenciate them without altering the name? I wouldn’t like to have it as The Girl 2 or something like that. I know, very obsessive question…
You can e.g. include the movie’s IMDb ID or its ID from The Movie Database in the folder/file names.
e.g.
Movies
The Girl (2012) {imdb-ttxxxxx}
The Girl (2012) {imdb-ttxxxx}.ext
The Girl (2012) {tmdb-xxxxx}
The Girl (2012) {tmdb-xxxx}.ext
You can use the IMDb or TMDb IDs for both – I only mixed them in the example above to show you how the naming works with the respective prefix.
There’s quite a few movies titled “The Girl” in 2012… here’s the ones I found:
All of these techniques are mentioned in the naming guide: https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-movie-media-files/
