Two Questions re: FLAC

My collection is mostly lossless. Usually I am doing Plex to the Roku client or Plex DLNA to my receiver’s DLNA client.

  1. Is Plex transcoding flac to mp3?
  2. Does Plex read the replay gain information in the vorbis tags?

A typical tag looks like:

METADATA block #1
type: 4 (VORBIS_COMMENT)
is last: false
length: 361
vendor string: reference libFLAC 1.2.1 20070917
comments: 10
comment[0]: ARTIST=Bruckner
comment[1]: TRACKNUMBER=3
comment[2]: GENRE=Classical
comment[3]: TITLE=03-III. Scherzo (Presto)
comment[4]: ALBUM=Symphony in F minor - Overture in G minor
comment[5]: REPLAYGAIN_REFERENCE_LOUDNESS=89.0 dB
comment[6]: REPLAYGAIN_TRACK_GAIN=-1.84 dB
comment[7]: REPLAYGAIN_TRACK_PEAK=0.83761597
comment[8]: REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM_GAIN=-3.22 dB
comment[9]: REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM_PEAK=0.99993896

A separate block holds the image.

That depends on the client.
Which do you use?

  1. Does Plex read the replay gain information in the vorbis tags?

Currently, Plex has no support for Replay Gain.
