I have changed owner to plex:plex (from john:john) on this drive and chmod to 775 for all files on /media/john/3TSEA/VBLIB/Media:

The problem you are having with /media is not related to PMS.

It IS related to Gnome and the Gnome automounter (which puts everything it can grab into /media)

The problem with this:

1. You plug in something – It shows up in /media
2. Easy for you
3. Secretly, Gnome has set EXCLUSIVE access to your username.
4. Plex is another user and Linux rules prohibit another user from seeing your files unless you grant it.
5. In this case, Gnome won’t let you override the permissions.

There is only one way to combat this: (I wrote this 4 years ago… lol)
