After upgrading to Plex Media Server version 1.32.8.7639, attempting to stream MP3 files from the PlayStation 4 client version 5.74.0 results an an “unexpected playback error.” Looking at the log console reveals a Shaka error of “CONTENT_UNSUPPORTED_BY_BROWSER.”
After downgrading Plex Media Server to version 1.32.5.7349 the issue subsides. This appears to be a regression in Plex Media Server 1.32.8.7639.
Update (2024-07-07): I just tried upgrading the Media Server to version 1.40.3.8555 with the PlayStation 4 client version 5.85.0, and the issue still exists. I have to keep my Media Server back at version 1.32.5.7349 in order to stream MP3 files on my PlayStation 4 client.
