Greetings,
I’ve been noticing of late that my dashboard is always showing activity even when nothing is being played. Maintenance isn’t until the wee hours so it isn’t that and I don’t have the option of intermittent scanning.
I’m not concerned, just curious as to what it is doing. Any ideas, please?

That’s the dashboard updating itself.
Hmm, it seems a lot of activity for that when nothing is being played. Much of the time the line is flat. What, exactly, is it updating? 
could just be the server checking on network drives connectivity and/or connection tests to local clients.
Keep in mind that the graph is scaling itself automatically.
Also the more clients are connected to your account and the people you share your server with, the more often they are contacting your server to make sure they are up to date with their data.
Its < 18 kbps, so this is virtually nothing.

Yes, I know it isn’t much, especially on the powerful box I’m using and my 800 mb up and down fibre optic. I was simply curious.

upnp broadcasts and similar type network keep alives etc.
you could always wireshark or other network monitor analysis
