Unknown Video Codec: mpeg2video

All my DVDs are ripped direct to MKV. raspplex works really well on my TV, included CEC control ( which is awesome!) but it wants to transcode everything. Every MKV I play i get an error in the bottom right hand corner of the screen

Ive read elsewhere that this is a bug in 040 rc1 and that this issue will be fixed in the next release, but im running 040 RC4....does this count as the next release or not ?

 

note that I do NOT have the MPEG licence installed. if I need to purchase one of these to get videos to render without transcoding, where do I enter the seral number ? if this turns out to be the case I'll apologise and buy everyone in the room a beer..
