there a couple of days that I can’t run some films. The strange thing is that I can run them from another source like a Samsung SmartTV.
Each time I trying to play these films appear a message “Transcoding: Unknown video codec” after that another message “Unable to play media: please check that this file exists and the neccessary drive is mounted”
I have a Raspberry PI version B with 512Mb, a SDHC class 10 8Gb. The connection is Ethernet. The version of Rasplex is the latest 0.6.0. I have installed RasPlex by disk imager OSX.
I have followed instruction on GitHub but I can’t get log file, from SSH session is telling me that “rasplex” password is not correct for user “plexuser”
Version of Plex Server is 0.9.12.3.1173-937aac3
Type of plex server: NAS on Synology
Power supply: via usb cable from TV
Ok I’ve the log. Also the video that I try to play is an avi. The codec I think is MPEG2 and other information I don’t know how to “read” in the file.
I see from log file this two row:
00:05:02 T:1796207696 DEBUG: CPlexTranscoderClientRPi : Codec MPG2 was not found.
00:05:02 T:1796207696 DEBUG: CPlexTranscoderClientRPi : Codec WVC1 was not found.
What mean ? And why from Samsung SmartTV I haven’t this problem ?
I found also this article: Buy MPEG-2 license It means that I need to buy the license ? Why one or 2 month ago I didn’t have this problem ? I played MPEG-2 file anyway.

If you’re still using RasPlex 0.6.0, then please try installing or updating to RasPlex 0.7.0 instead.
For a new install, make sure to download and use the new and improved RasPlex installer.
Hopefully the new release will eliminate the problems you had.

Ok. Now I purchased (for 5 euros) license for MPEG-2 and WVC1. Rasplex tell me that it find the codec, but the problem still remain. Can you help me ?
I tried some tests. One with Force Transcoding Off and one with Force Transcoding On.
Each time I find this string inside log: 17:07:39 T:1969602560 INFO: CAESinkALSA - ALSA: /home/dale.hamel/workspace/rasplex/OpenELEC.tv/build.RasPlex-RPi.arm-devel/alsa-lib-1.0.29/src/confmisc.c:392:(snd_func_concat) error evaluating strings 17:07:39 T:1969602560 INFO: CAESinkALSA - ALSA: /home/dale.hamel/workspace/rasplex/OpenELEC.tv/build.RasPlex-RPi.arm-devel/alsa-lib-1.0.29/src/conf.c:4260:(_snd_config_evaluate) function snd_func_concat returned error: No such file or directory
No such file or directory, what mean ? Which file or directory ? I’m not an expert of OpenELEC.
Also I found this one: 17:17:11 T:1602864208 DEBUG: RPi ShouldTranscode decided to transcode, Reason : Unknown video codec : 17:17:11 T:1602864208 DEBUG: CPlexMediaDecisionJob::DoWork Item should be transcoded 17:17:11 T:1602864208 DEBUG: CPlexMediaDecisionJob::DoWork final URL from MDE is plexserver://20ceafd68989c4c5c0a4541c47f88be0cb0a2aef/video/:/transcode/universal/start.mkv?copyts=1&directPlay=0&directStream=1&maxVideoBitrate=20000&mediaIndex=0&path=%2flibrary%2fmetadata%2f9064&protocol=http&session=6c1b0c46-ea73-4b41-a8ec-34353a2df734&videoQuality=100&videoResolution=1920x1080
Why is talking about matroska ? the file has an AVI extension and not an MKV.`
