Unusual set of circumstances

My circumstances are unusual. I have been a plex user and plex pass lifetime owner for many years. About a year ago, my MacPro started to show signs of a problem. The machine is old, and could only run with ElCapitan (Mac OS 10.11.6). While trying to figure out what to do, I removed my plex server and all the media I had been sharing with several members of my family. During the year I had the MacPro repaired.

I am now ready to reinstall plex server, but it is spending time asking me questions about my plex pass. There doesn’t seem to be any place to tell it that I already have one.

Once I am past that hurdle I need the answer to 2 questions:

(1) What version of plex media server should I use? Where can I find it?

(2) Is plex media player still available? Where can I find it?

Thank you!

For both questions:

  • The current public release of the Plex Media Server is version 1.19.4; minimum macOS version is 10.9 (Mavericks) – so you’ll be good
  • Plex Media Player 2.58.0 is working on macOS 10.10 (Yosemite) or later – so you’ll be good to go
  • the newer, desktop-only “Plex for Mac” requires macOS 10.13 (High Sierra)

Edit:
Not sure where you get that questions about upgrading to a Plex Pass membership. Once you have linked your PMS with the Plex account, those buttons should go away.
