Need to update an old version, no luck so far

Server Version#: 1.9.4.4325
Player Version#: (don’t know what this is)

I haven’t used Plex in a LONG time and apparently my server is too old to operate. I would like to start using it again but every device says I need to update my server. I have tried (maybe incorrectly) with no luck. May I please have info on where to get the update and step-by-step instructions on how to install it? This is on a Mac v 10.13.6

Thanks!

Thanks. I have already done that. All it does when I run it is open my server and nothing happens.

One more piece of info: my “Check for updates” button in the server is disabled.

is there any reason for you trying to update instead of uninstalling the old one and installing the latest?

It has been so long since I did this, I was just trying to keep it simple. Other than that, no. As long as I can have instructions handy.

And what I’m saying is, I don’t remember how I set it up and how involved it was.

Usually when you uninstall it and install again you don’t lose your settings. I don’t know how to uninstall or install apps on a mac, but if you manage to install it, I’m more than happy to help you with any questions

I am not a Mac person either (this computers only purpose is iTunes and Plex) so I will wait for a little more info.

The upgrade process on a Mac is very straight-forward. Just download the latest version available for macOS from here:

Stop Plex Media Server, then extract the file you just downloaded and move the new version to your /Applications folder (tell it to replace the existing version when asked). After doing so, run Plex Media Server. If you get an error saying that it can’t be run for some reason, open the /Applications folder, right-click Plex Media Server, and select Open; confirm that you want to run it when asked.

How do I stop the server? I don’t see a “Stop” button anywhere…

Got it. THANK YOU!
