Update on missing features - m3u's, Playlist sharing, Playlists over DLNA, Movie cuts

@elan I believe at least a few of these were planned to get some attention by now. Any progress that you can share on the first 4?

Quick summary:
-m3u’s - Ability to play existing m3u playlists in Plex via import or direct play.
-Playlist sharing - I believe back in May there was mention of this being worked in upcoming months.
-Playlists over DLNA - Understand this was one of the more difficult fixes, but any progress?
-Movie cuts - Can we at least get a short term solution by just adding the filename or text within [brackets] in the Play Version list?

Features Missing - m3u’s, Playlist sharing, Playlists over DLNA, Movie cuts, and Trakt - Plex Media Server / Desktops & Laptops - Plex Forum

Playlist sharing is implemented.

Awesome! Don’t know how I missed that one. Now I just need a way to get my m3u’s working in Plex and working over DLNA. As well as different versions of movies of course, but knocked 2 off the list.

So, the Playlist sharing implementation is a little odd. Its only 1 at a time. How do I share ALL of my playlists with my managed home users?

As far as I know, that’s all there is. I don’t use the feature myself.

Ok, thanks.

server endpoints exist to import m3us, but we haven’t explored how to expose them yet.

we’re not planning to further enhance the current DLNA functionality.

Thanks for the update Elan. I’m guessing you aren’t updating DLNA, because Chromecast is the future? If so, ok, I can probably come up with a solution using casting instead of DLNA. Can you at least expose the import/export of m3u’s though? If I’m going to use Plex for playlists we’ll at least need the ability to pull them in.

well, yeah, DLNA isn’t exactly getting any younger

 Yea, thats what I figured. No problem. Can you at least bring the ability to import and export m3u’s? Thanks again for the updates.

the M3U thing could be provided by a third party app/script as well. we’d probably not prioritize export e.g. but a competent dev could write a script to do this in a few hours.

Understand, thanks. Since Plex already has something built it would be very much appreciated if you could at least add the import m3u to the current app. Maybe with a link to show xml of the Playlist to make it easier to export if necessary.

Appreciate all the info and hope you can open up the import m3u capability soon.
