Update to 1.15.3.835 on Ubuntu 18.04 Failure

@bsab5

If you get “Not found” and it’s there (ls -la) , that has to be an OS problem.

There is an error not being printed.
A dependent library / something is not printing out.

OR

NOEXEC is asserted on /usr (which makes no sense)

Hi,
I just tried to do an update as well.
Got these errors;

I had just done an apt-get update/upgrade so all packages should have been at the correct latest versions.

PMS was all still working following the update/upgrade.
I then went ahead and did the PMS update via the wget & dpkg method, which is how I have always done it.

Any views?
Many Thanks
Dave

I think I see what’s happening.

Check to see if udev is installed. I suspect it’s not. It should be the default on all modern distros, including 18.04 workstation. According to that report, it hasn’t been enabled / activated for the system.

udevadm trigger is not permitted while udev is unconfigured.

Personal statement:

I see the comments which folks write then delete.
Please remember netiquette.

I am limited in what I can do

Just checking in to say after the last update on my system that has been running perfectly fine for years (albeit on Linuxmint), I got the same thing. The web server portion of things just didn’t load any longer. All checks (from this thread, found in other threads too) showed that Plex was indeed running, but I could not access is locally or remotely.

In my frustration of it not working (I have a beautiful set-up which auto-downloaded subtitles and meticulous order in my library) I un-installed it all thinking something must have botched up in the update and a fresh install would fix it. I have now un-installed/re-installed perhaps 10 times, without luck. I even installed other browsers and have gone through all firewall settings, network settings etc.

However, today I picked it up again, had the same error as always (servers is reportedly running, nothing loads on any ip-address anywhere as far as Plex is concerned) and as I followed the instructions in this very thread, without luck, I must have done something…as I am reading this thread (on another computer than Plex is on) a browser window pops up 5 minutes or so after I had put in the last command where nothing had happened. In it, to my surprise, Plex is now loading. I obviously have to re-set it all up again, but something in this thread apparently adds something I haven’t done previously. Just saying.

So for those asking questions and can feel frustrated: you are probably not alone. For the helpers: thanks, I think the instructions you give are correct, but there seems to be some incompatibility that make Plex behave in new ways on our hardware that has “always worked previously”.

I still have a “There was an unexpected error loading this library, please visit our forums if you continue experience problems” after Plex scanning it, and the library shows absolutely nothing else, but at least now I have something to work with. The main frustration comes from the not-showing-me-anything error message I used to have. Now there is hope. :slight_smile:

Ah. I spoke too soon. After getting the positive progress above it simply refused to load/list anything in the library. Another thread suggested the database (which was brandnew from a new install) was corrupted, so I tried to fix that. Basically resetting it again, but regardless, now I am where I was: “the site can’t be reached” even though Plex reports back that it is running in commandline. :confused:

This happened to me today as well. However for me, it turned out to be a silly error on my end. I don’t know how you guys obtain new versions, but I simply get new builds from the downloads page on plex.tv. Turns out a while ago, the order of how the different linux versions are listed within the popup after choosing the OS has changed, so I blindly downloaded the 32bit version of PMS without even wanting to, because now this is at the very top, instead of the 64bit one. Not sure if that does help you out too (probably not), but I thought maybe it’s worth mentioning, we all make mistakes sometimes. :slight_smile:
