Hello, thought I’d update the Nvidia multi-gpu guide technique as it no longer works from previous post in the forums. This technique allows you to use a graphics card to hardware transcode without being plugged into the HDMI port on that card. I use my 1070 for transcoding and my 3080 for gaming.
•Go into the Nvidia control panel (right click on the desktop)
•Go to Manage 3D settings
•Select Program settings
•Click “Add”
•Browse to c:\program files (x86)\plex\plex media server (or wherever you have it installed).
•Choose “Add Current Folder”
•You also want to repeat this step and add the Plex transcoder, this is very important as this is the new step to make this work.
•When you are back to the list of settings you can adjust, change “CUDA - GPUs” to select the GPU you wish to assign to plex in my case I assigned my 1070. Do this for both Plex and transcoder
• Change power management mode to Performance do this for both.
•Open Gl rendering set the desired graphics card (1070 for my setup) do this on both.
• Restart computer and test out you should be good to go.
