Updating Plex Media Server using debian repository broke?

Hi Everyone,

I have installed Plex Media Server to my home server which is running an Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS following the steps described in this article. According to my system the version at that time was 1.20.5.3600-47c0d9038.

enisz@threadripper:~$ dpkg --list | grep plexmediaserver
ii plexmediaserver 1.20.5.3600-47c0d9038 amd64 Plex organizes all of your personal media so you can easily access and enjoy it.

Today I was using the web dashboard of the server and I saw a notifcation that a new version is available (1.21.0.3616), so I tried to do the update using the apt-get package on the server, but it couldn’t find any updates to install it, and the version is still on 1.20.

I tried to access the url https://downloads.plex.tv/repo/deb from my browser but got redirected immediately and there was a message on this page saying that the page I was looking for was not found.

Am I doing something wrong? Is it supposed to work, or maybe this got changed recently and should I update the url for the repository?

Any help is appreciated!
Thanks!

The repository takes a moment to update and the new public version was only released yesterday. Nothing broken… just takes some time.

You can always install it manually via dpkg, downloading the version from Plex’ homepage.
