Upgraded PMS on Windows, PlexConnect, and ATV3, and Issues Now

Upgraded PMS on Windows, PlexConnect, and ATV3, and Issues Now:

1.  Upgraded my Apple TV3 to 7.0

2.  Upgraded my PMS on Windows Home Server 2011 to PlexPass version:  0.9.11.1.678-c48ffd2

3.  Upgraded PlexConnect from 0.3.3.1+ to 0.4-Dev.

4.  All software versions, including WHS 2011, at latest patches.

I edited "settings.cfg" on the PlexConnect app to just set the:  ip_dnsmaster = 192.168.1.1. (my Router's LAN 192.168.1.1 (DNS Server for local clients) which maps to -> Router's WAN ISP's DNS)

I rebuild the certificates when the only aTV3 icons that showed up on aTV3 boot was two icons, one of which was "Settings".  I can't remember the other right now, but of course, that wasn't right.  So I rebuilt the Certificates again and applied them.  This seemed to fix the issue, and upon boot of aTV3 all icons appeared again.

I am using the simple instructions for using the "Apple Trailers" icon.  Nothing fancier than that.

So then I did final testing of everything upgraded above, and I saw some of these issues now:

1.  The "OSD screen settings" are set for a 12 hour clock and current time and media play time, but the clock information never displays.

2.  I see errors in the PlexConnect log on the at times.  DNSSERVER:  Warning:  DNS Error (10054) : An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

I'll keep testing and see if these issues were just temporary, but I'm wondering of these new versions together are as reliable/stable as aTV3 6.02, PlexConnect 0.3.3.1+, and PlexPass PMS previous version was.

Anyone using the same latest version environment and have any comments, or suggestions?

Thanks,

TruckFan

I don't use Windows Home Server, but have a windows 2012 server and have no issues with Plexconnect.

The error you mention on the log, happens and does not cause issues with plexconnect.

Is Plexconnect working and presenting media?

Still no clock or media play end time showing, but media is being presented.  I'm still watching to see if Plex eventually stops responding to chosen selections like "Play" and "Trailer".  After posting my original post, for troubleshooting, I did go into PlexConnect "settings.cfg" and set the following:

enable_plexgdm = False
ip_pms = (IP of Host/PMS)
ip_dnsmaster = IP of Wireless Router LAN Port client DNS address (192.168.1.1) that forwards to Wireless Router WAN Port ISP DNS)

enable_plexconnect_autodetect = False
ip_plexconnect = IP of Host/PMS)

-> loglevel = High + logs that show the start of a movie.

Without that nobody can tell why clock won't show. With it, there's a slight chance...

Here is a log file with "High" set for the log level and operating PlexConnect.

Thanks for your help.

This is strange... according to the logs everything looks good:

>> 17:59:06 ATVLogger: willStartPlaying/createClockView done

>> 17:59:06 ATVLogger: willStartPlaying done

JS code did create the ClockViews, and finished willStartPlaying() nicely - no prematurely JS code break.

I can't see anything going wrong, double-checked my setup, logs look the same (well, similar... :-) and Clock shows up.

And you are positive that it isn't displayed at all?

By any chance, did you change your TV settings to some sort of "zoom" that would display the Clock out of sight, like way up beyond the edge of your screen?

You know what?  Things have seemed to be better since removing and recreating the bundles as directed for System.bundle, Framework.bundle, and webclient.bundle, and recreating the certificates.  Things may be working better now, and why is a mystery.  Such things happen when you change a lot of things in a small amount of time.

I'll keep any eye on things.  For now, let's consider it solved.

Thanks for looking things over.
