URL Service - AUTO UPDATE

Can I use PlexPluginDevMode1 in plist file of URL Service to stop auto updates ?

I don't think you can set this in the URL Service plist. Best you can do is copy your bundle file to a different place and use a symlink.

I am using Windows 7. When you say symlink does it mean windows short cut to a folder and reference the contents of the folder to different location? I know how symlinks works in UNIX, but not on windows, please clarify me.

You can prevent updates to the entire services bundle, but not individual URL services. Out of interest, why do you want to do this? Services are usually only updated to fix them when something breaks

The reason is I have RTMP Proxy in place which I can use for fetching the RTMP details for the ones that play using WebVideoItem. So that these channels can be played quickly and puts less load on PMS as they just need mutex.

Also couple of channels like “The WB” are not playble on ROKU as the video requires RTMPE. But The WB channel supports RTMP as well. If I can change this in URL Service then I can play them as well on ROKU.

How I can prevent auto update for entire service bundle, please let me know. If anything in the future breaks for the ones I installed then I will update the service bundle for that channel on different machine and copy them to the actual PMS I use for ROKUs.

Sander1, Thanks for the details on Symlink on Windows. Will try it.

I was able to create the Symlink and have the URL Services copied over there. I can play all the channels as before. With this setup I assume the URL Services are not updated automatically by PMS. Is this correct or anything else I need to do. Please clarify. Thanks in advance.

I’m not certain whether Python would detect those links - modifying the plist file will be safer on Windows.

Symlink did not work for me. So I disabled auto updates for all URL Services in main plist file of services.bundle. It works.
