Server Version 1.24.1.4931#:
Hi, I have a small problem, I just switched to Ubuntu Linux (I had my server mounted on Windows) and I would like to know how I can upload my multimedia content from an external hard drive, I saw that the options are similar, but when trying opening the directories of my external drive does not let me, I would like help please …
You have to assure the plex account has read or read/write permissions on you path and folders. See: Linux Permissions Guide | Plex Support
If I may add?
- If you want to keep the media on the external drive, given that it’s a USB drive and subject to Linux automounter rules, is as shown below because PMS does not like the media moving around/disappearing.
- If you are copying the media from external to something internal or into a NAS, you only need be concerned with the final permission values. The best permissions are 755 (directories) and 644 (files) because you retain RW(x) as owner and PMS has R/O.
