For my wife and I, the continue watching feature is totally unusable for TV shows.
It seems the algorithm for deciding which episode of a recently watched series appears under this section is:
condition 1: starting at season 1 episode 1, return the first “half-watched” episode in the series
OR ||
condition 2: find the most recently played episode, if it’s “half watched” return it, if its fully watched, return the next episode
What I would prefer to have (and what netflix seems to do) is to only have “condition 2” and eliminate “condition 1”.
It seems the first condition takes priority.
Could we adjust this algorithm or make it user customizable?
Context examples:
Lets say 2 years ago, I started re-watching The Office and made it halfway through s01e04.
But last week I decided to start rewatching The Office again, but i felt like starting at season 2.
For as long as im rewatching the office now, even if i made it to s06e05, “continue watching” will always suggest s01e04 (because of condition 1).
Another example:
Lets say I fall asleep watching Futurama. The next day I cannot figure out where i fell asleep in the show. My best guess is s01e03. So i scrub halfway through s01e03, watch for 2 minutes, and realize i already watched all of that episode. So i click on the next episode.
Even if i make it to futurama s05e12, “continue watching” will always bring me to s01e03 (because of condition 1)for your own suggestion after you create it>
