Something I thought of this evening while noticing my 5 user’s streaming simultaneously was an idea of prioritising bandwidth and server resources per user based on a prioritisation scoring.
Would anyone else use such a feature?
My thoughts are that users of the server vary, and in my case, my younger brother isn’t as fussed about quality, but would still want to watch his shows from my server remotely. By prioritising users, bandwidth and transcoding resources would be allocated automatically, as they already are, but dependant on the ranking of their priority.
This would allow lower quality streams to take place by users with a lower rank and potentially not allow users with certain ranks to access content when “x” amount of concurrent streams are currently happening?
Just a thought…
