Okay, so I have been using PMS without premium for a long while. I recently tried the 30 day trial for live tv/dvr, and although I don’t really use it, the parents would love it. They’re not tech inclined so I would need to set up and manage everything for them.
So I’m wondering how the Plex Pass works? If I bought it on my account, how can I set up the parents PMS to use my Plex Pass, and still allow me to use it too? Do I have to log them in to my account on their server, or can I simply add them as a home user? Thanks
In point form, how to:
Have Plex Pass on my own home server and allow another server to use my pass too, without losing functionality.
ok first, are there 2 SERVERS? (your parents have a server, and you have a server?)
or are your parents simply accessing your server via tv/roku/whatever ?
You can have multiple servers logged in with your account. They will have separate content and play histories etc (ie you can’t sync them).
So if your parents do have their own server/media, you could log both their server and your server under the same plex account.
Then you could create a plex home, and make home users for them.
Home users can either use the same plex account (meaning you have to log in to each client with your admin plex account), or have their own individual plex accounts (safer for you the admin).
this would simply 2 servers under 1 plex account, no loss of functionality, but also no way to split the servers if for some reason they wanted to admin their own at some point.
Okay great. Thanks for all that info. They would have their own server. Just wondering if they had their own login if I could share my Plex pass to their login. Otherwise I can just sign in my account to their server, either way works. Thanks again for your help.
