I`d like to use Plex to record Freeview HD channels in the UK.
Can someone recommend a tuner which can support this? I notice that there are driver issues with the HD homerun tuners preventing use on HD channels so perhaps another make would be better?
I have the hauppauge HD dual stick which cost about £100 I think. I did try the homerun iirc and it’s slightly more clever hardware (runs as a network server in its own right), but has a predatory business model so I sent it back. Hauppauge have been doing TV cards since the 90’s that I remember, so at least it works.
It seems to work in Plex fine, I can’t fault it really. Be aware though, the support is different in different versions of Plex. So Plex for Android gets most support, Plex for Amazon FireTV gets SweetFA. You need to suss out if it will work with your preferred devices first.
Breaking news:!:!: Amazon Fire TV now gets support for Live TV. Although it did crash Plex on the first go and won’t actually play the live programme. But it looks like it’s getting there
