Im using vlc on android to stream video via my local net work from my pc, the streaming works well and all the informations are shown
but once I viewed a video, the file name of the video will be shown as file.mp4
I can still stream the video and everything, but more and more of my videos are file.mp4 so I cant tell the difference
It seems that this wont mess with the server’s setting and everything remain the same, I tried with another android tablet, the file names is normal, but when I play them, the names are changed as well
I know that this is more of a vlc issue than a plex issue, but I beg for a solution, or any recommandation on streaming apps that works well with plex
This is actually a Plex thing. When you stream a file, Plex actually masks the filename. This is intended and there is no way around it.
thx for replying, I tried clear out vlc’s cache to refresh it and everything is restored, I guess this could be a way
Are you trying to replay files from the VLC cache?

Downloaded files were only meant to be used within Plex so Plex knows what they are. There is not an option to change this.
