I have a dedicated plex machine running win10 with 16gb of ram and latest i5 proc. its basically a naked Win10 setup with nothing running on it except for plex. Until now its been great but i def noticed something bad with the latest release. My CPU at idle is normally around 2% usage but now i noticed that plex is sucking up a lot of resources when there is no one connected and CPU never goes below 29% (also NO tasks like DVR or other scheduled things with PMS). And i’m also noticing slower responsiveness on the client side. Whats going on with this new release? Again, nothing has changed on my hardware / operating system side (other than windows updates) for over a year. I even rebooted the machine thinking maybe windows had a hung process but nothing has helped. Plex using 30% (minimum) CPU at idle seems like a lot to me. When I EXIT the PMS app my CPU goes down to 1% usage so almost 100% of the idle usage is plex and which can be seen on windows task manager. Thoughts?
PS - no, i dont have video thumbnails turned on (learned that lesson years ago)
