Various Artist Plays Being Recorded as a Specific (Unrelated) Artist

All my plays of albums tagged as Various Artists are being recorded as plays for a single, unrelated artist. This is a screenshot for the Play History for the artist O’Donel Levy; you can see that a variety of Various Artist plays are recorded as being “his plays”.

I checked the metadata for the Various Artists and he’s not associated with any of the albums or tracks at all.

This has happened previously, but their thread wasn’t answered by anyone:

Two questions:

  1. Why is this happening? This is definitely a bug.

  2. Can I delete ALL plays associated with O’Donel Levy, even if it means eliminating some genuine plays of his actual music, just to clean up this weirdness?
