Just dropping in again to see if there have been any updates. Any word?
Plex doesnât comment on whats in their pipeline or what they are planning to implement. They do this to avoid upsetting the community by placing timelines and missing them as well to not promise things that they canât accomplish in the end.
You wonât receive an update on this until it is implemented. Alternatively they may never put this feature in and you wonât ever hear anything on this again.
âYou wonât receive an update on this until it is implemented. Alternatively they may never put this feature in and you wonât ever hear anything on this again.â
This is what Iâm trying to avoid: Iâd like to keep this post active so the devs know this is an ongoing issue and there is continued demand for it. I donât want to let it fall by the wayside b/c they think folks have given up on this feature being implemented.
I hear what youâre saying.
They track the features that we want by the amount of likes the first post of the thread gets. Thatâs what they tell us at least. The fact is this thread has been very popular since it was started in 2012. For all we know this feature could go live tomorrow (Iâm not going to hold my breath on this one).
+1 because some of my friends internet is slow af.
Just checking back in, as it has been a few months a a few updates have come through without this feature. What is the timeline to implement this feature?
Iâd like to add: please do more âaggressive cachingâ also for non-video.
For instance:
- cache the next song in a playlist (pretty please!! itâs very annoying to have a pause between songs, or have a stuttering start of a song)
- cache the next 2-3 photos when browsing photos fullscreen
- cache the complete list when browsing through a library (this has already been improved a little on the latest Android/web interface, so thanks!!)
^ I agree; considering that PLEX is meant to be a media player, the fact that it doesnât have some of the most basic requirements, such as gapless music playback baffles me. However, this has been requested for several years on the forums (as well as the better buffering requested in this thread) with no response at all from the devs, so I wouldnât hold my breath.
Feature vote started in Aug 2012.
We are In Jul 2016!
Just letting you know, you the people that were holding your breath for this feature, that you can breathe now.
No, the feature did not go live, but there is no point in suffocating for nothing.
One thing is clear. Plex does what they want. Users can just keep dreaming.
PS: so Plex, if they think I will keep up the sub.
+1 - A little shocking itâs been almost over a year since Iâve had this problem without a resolution. This would save my sanity so that I wouldnât have to deal with buffering issues when I travel and want to check out a clip.

OMFG YES. This is so needed⊠hell, Iâd PAY/pitch-in to speed this stuff up.
Plex does not give timelines. You just have to wait and hope. Sometimes you will wait yearsâŠ

Another month of silence: what is the timeline to implement this feature?

As noted in the previous response, Plex does not discuss their timelines.
Given that this item currently has the fourth-highest vote count, itâs safe to say that Plex is aware of the popularity of the request.
This would be great and an AUTO feature for quality as well, connection is a bit slow, drop the quality and not the stream.

In that case, it would be nice to hear something (anything at all) from PLEX whether they are working on this issue or not. Leaving your customers out to dry isnât the greatest business practice.
I actually kind of expected this feature in version 1.0.
was hoping to see this in the 1.0 release. Oh well.
I realy how to seen this option as soon as possible !!
