+1 pleeeeease!!!
Does anybody here know someone with an influential blog in the tech area that would feature/write about this request?
I believe there are many Synology play unit, and others with this platform, owners that do not yet know about this thread.
(if this post is inappropriate, please flag it so a mod can remove it. I do this only out of love for PLEX)
Were you promised any?
Plex hasn't taken up on doing this even while seeing the paltry number of votes it has. Isn't that a response?
Plex has never, ever, promised this feature would be included. "Voting" for a feature doesn't make Plex responsibly for its implementation or even an official response on it. It just helps them when deciding what to slot into their pipeline.
Of course not, but a quick response whether or not it would ever be supported would have been nice, and would also be a sign of them appreciating our support... Don't see why you are so willing to defend plex in this matter...

I don't defend Plex, since they're not being attacked, nor have they even commented on this. I just believe this argument is faulty and can't understand how it's always presented as "common sense". It is not, to me. So I say so.
Would it be "super nice"? Sure. Would it be common or even a good idea for them? No.
It would set an unsustainable precedent where other feature requests would have to be given an official response; it would establish a commited deliverable plan the Plex team may not be able to maintain and couldn't easily change from, as people would start waving their "lifetime passes" defending, each, their own entitled expectation.
No. The best way to do these things, which has been proven time an again, is to have a way to capture feature requests and trends and then decide which ones of those agree with the set strategy, available resources and planned timeline. Allowing users to have any say is a horrible, horrible idea, in practical terms. An idea that can easily bring even large projects like Plex to their knees.
You didn't have a say in the direction of Photoshop or office, even paying half a thousand for it back when it costed that. This is not different. The team being closer shouldn't be confused with us being entitled to dictate their direction.
Doesn't seems like Plex would do anything in this matter... other companies can integrate hardware transcoding support for Intel Evansport obviously, like DVBLink / DVBLogic.
I am really disappointed of Plex.
@elan Have any comments about this? It’s very popular feature request without any comments from Plex side.

I believe, if plex cooperates with synology they can sell a lot of units as multimedia NAS. Boath of them are a little bit stubborn, aren’t they?
Dream: Syno delivers a fully plex supported device and you can only access to the evanspot feature with a plex pass, it’s a win win situation.
Hello all. I recently bought a DS214play for the transcoding possibilities. DS video is disappointing because it doesn’t support srt subtitles and doesn’t play files with hardcoded subtitles. Plex is wonderfull at this. A lot of people are asking for evansport support here.
I was thinking maybe it is an idea to launch a kickstarter or indiegogo campaign for this. If al 405 voters for this support would donate say $50,- for this support we could go to plex with $20000,- if plex still won’t support it than everyone gets it’s money back so there is no risk.
Would you guys pay $50,- for Evansport transcoding support? like my comment if yes

I don’t know why… but competitors have support for Evansport (214play)
2021 clean-up: obsolete (outdated platform)
