I play on buying a 214play and a 414play. I do hope that Plex includes support for this soon.

I understand you're being facetious, and to your point, I've also "liked" this post to let the devs know I'd love to see this in Plex, but as others have pointed out, I think we're not going to see this until ffmpeg supports it as Plex more or less uses that with some custom patches. I also think you'll be more than happy with your PlexPass purchase even if this never makes it in. It has some totally badass features for which I happily paid the 75 bucks.
To be clear, I'm not chastising anyone, just tagging the end of this thread with another reminder that there are some prerequisites/blockers to this support getting into Plex.
With all that being said, I have a DS214play and I'm hoping beyond hope this support gets in sooner than later :-D

I recently recommended Plex to one of my colleague and he likes it. He is planning to buy a new Synology NAS but unfortunately I couldn't recommend him one supported by Plex for transcoding. I have a DS214Play and I also would love to see Full hardware transcoding supported.

I just gave you guys $75 because your software does rock... but I really want the transcoding features of the play/evansport integrated into Plex.

Synology user here for many years, I'm looking to eventually replace my aging PMS server (old Core 2 Duo laptop) and I think a Synology box like the DS214play would be ideal if Plex can take advantage of the hardware decoding.
If a lot of additional work is required you might consider making this enhanced Synology-only PMS build a separate one-off purchase. Pretty please!
