Video preview thumbnail generation now multi-threaded?

I just imported some new content and it looks like video preview thumbnail generation is now using multiple cores. I just had all 8 cores hit just over 70% and it did a whole movie way faster than usual.

I don’t remember reading about this in the release notes, and it was definitely restricted to a single thread on the version prior to this one. If this is an intentional change, that’s awesome.

Is there anything else that has switched from using a single to multiple threads?

I am surprised no one else is seeing this, as I’ve seen it be a feature request several times.

I am also wondering if the multithreaded tasks that were previously single threaded is why it seems like users with lower clock and lower core count processors are seeing major CPU load on their systems lately?
